Platform Rules

Introduction

These Platform Rules (the “Rules”) describe the content and behavior that are not permitted on WebDIY or in the applications you build, publish, or host with it. They apply to your Inputs, your Generated Output, your projects and deployed applications, and any content those applications make available. The Rules form part of our Terms of Service, and a violation of the Rules is a violation of the Terms.

Each category below lists what is not allowed; the General exceptions section describes content that remains permitted across categories. We interpret and apply these Rules at our discretion, respond to violations as described in Enforcement, reporting, and appeals below, and update the Rules as the Service evolves.

General exceptions

Unless a category states otherwise, the following remain permitted, provided they comply with every other rule and with applicable law:

• documentary, educational, or scientific content that does not include gratuitous graphic detail or operational instructions for causing harm;
• fictional and artistic works that do not promote the prohibited conduct and, where confusion is plausible, are clearly presented as fiction; and
• criticism, journalism, and awareness-raising content.

Violence and criminal activity

Not allowed:

• threats of violence, or incitement, encouragement, or glorification of violence against people or animals;
• support or promotion of organizations known for violent activities;
• instructions for committing crimes or for causing serious physical harm;
• content that encourages or instructs dangerous acts carrying a significant risk of severe injury or death.

Child safety

We apply zero tolerance in this category, and we report apparent child sexual abuse material to the relevant authorities as required by law.

Not allowed:

• any sexualization of minors, in any form, including AI-generated, fictional, or digitally altered imagery;
• content depicting, promoting, or facilitating child abuse, exploitation, or endangerment;
• grooming or other harmful interactions with children.

Allowed: child-safety education and awareness content that contains no explicit or graphic depictions.

Harassment, hate, and abuse

Not allowed:

• targeted harassment, bullying, intimidation, or defamation of individuals or groups;
• content that attacks or demeans people based on protected attributes such as race, ethnicity, nationality, religion, sexual orientation, gender, age, disability, or health status;
• encouragement or coordination of abuse, coercion, or physical attacks against anyone.

Self-harm and suicide

Not allowed:

• promotion, encouragement, or glorification of suicide or self-harm;
• graphic depictions of, or step-by-step instructions for, suicide or self-harm;
• content that promotes eating disorders or instructs disordered-eating behavior.

Allowed: recovery, prevention, and mental-health resources that avoid graphic depiction and instruction.

Adult sexual content and non-consensual intimate imagery

Not allowed:

• pornography, explicit sexual acts, or sexualized nudity;
• tools, sites, or instructions for generating or simulating nudity or sexualized imagery of real people;
• creating, sharing, or threatening to share intimate imagery of a person without their consent;
• content promoting or facilitating sex trafficking, or soliciting or advertising sexual services.

Allowed: adult products (such as sex toys or adult literature) and sex education, provided they comply with every other rule and contain no explicit imagery.

Fraud, phishing, and deception

Not allowed:

• phishing or credential-harvesting pages, fake login screens, or other social-engineering content;
• impersonation of a person, brand, or organization in a way that could mislead others;
• scams, fake giveaways or coupons, fraudulent investment or payout schemes, and fake financial services;
• AI-generated or manipulated media that deceptively portrays real people, including fake endorsements;
• false or misleading information that endangers public safety or public health;
• spam, unsolicited bulk communications, or schemes that violate anti-spam or telemarketing laws.

Allowed: clearly disclosed parody, satire, or fiction that a reasonable person would not mistake for the real thing.

Malware and security abuse

Not allowed:

• creating, hosting, or distributing malware or other malicious code;
• distributing stolen credentials or facilitating unauthorized access to systems or accounts;
• tools or operational instructions for attacking systems, or attempts to bypass the Service’s security measures and safeguards.

Allowed: good-faith security education and research that does not provide operational capability to cause harm.

Illegal or regulated goods and services

Not allowed:

• sale, promotion, or facilitation of controlled substances, weapons, or counterfeit or stolen goods;
• gambling, financial, or other regulated services offered without the required licenses or approvals;
• content facilitating, promoting, or advertising human exploitation.

Privacy violations

Not allowed:

• publishing or distributing a person’s private information (such as a home address, phone number, or identity documents) without their consent;
• sharing or soliciting passwords or credentials to accounts that are not yours;
• services that locate, expose, or sell personal information about individuals without their consent.

Allowed: public records and information shared with the explicit consent of the person concerned.

Intellectual property

Not allowed:

• content that infringes copyright, trademark, or other proprietary rights;
• one-to-one copies of existing sites or services that use the names, logos, or branding of known businesses; we treat such clones as impersonation and remove them.

To report infringement of your own copyright, follow the process described in the Copyright complaints provisions of our Terms of Service.

Enforcement, reporting, and appeals

We may investigate suspected violations of these Rules and take the action we consider appropriate, including removing or blocking content, disabling projects or deployments, suspending or terminating accounts, and, where required, reporting to law enforcement.

To report content or an application that you believe violates these Rules, contact us at compliance@web.diy and include the URL or project concerned and a specific description of the issue. If your project or account was actioned and you believe the decision was a mistake, you may appeal by replying to the enforcement notice or by writing to compliance@web.diy.
